One of the movies that is a great exempler of NLP (for relationships)is the bollywood feature film year 1978 “Khatta Meetha” starring Ashok Kumar and others.
As you watch this movie you would notice instances that may appear common and a reaction (by the man/woman facing them) which is uncommon. Although this movie focuses on particular family set up, but if you pick and see events as just events, there are numerous events where NLP in applicaton, especially by the father (played by Ashok Kumar) and mother(Played by Pearl Padamsee).
Why I say that? As you begin to read me below, you will notice that you can learn from this movie, use the learning to observe yourself and locate which of your behaviours are destructing your lives, when you are fully capable to lead happy , healthy and successful lives.
This movies revolves around the day to day life and instances in a Parsi family (there are 2 families which later become one). This family earns only to make up for the month. But both the characters, the mother and father, are such that even in face of adversity, they maintain their calm, stay hopeful ( not optimistic) and are able to sail through it. It clearly shows the pure vibes which they send do come back to favour them despite all odds.
One peculiar thing about the father’s reactions is that he never retaliates to odd situations in anger or frustration. Nor does he retaliate to the people involved when he looses his job, when he looses his home, when his children become rebellious to each other or resentful to the mother-in-law of his daughter is situations where most of people will snap right back; he maintains his calm when the policemen come to arrest him. It is the calm of the father, which avoids many situations that could have exploded into scenarios beyond his control –both emotionally and financially.
As you would see, the sons react positively in face of adversity. This is just one choice out of many in which how they might have reacted.
In the end, the relations are more harmonious. It is not based on optimism that everybody will change for good but on the freedom to make a choice on how you react to what is happening to you.
The underlying theme of the movie, when viewed in terms of NLP is – “Every behaviour has a positive intention.” This beliefs held by the father causes the family to sail through all the downs to remain alive when the ups come. Watch it, enjoy it, use it to visualise yourself for harmonious relations.
